Randall County Jail Roster

The Randall County, Texas Jail Roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county detention center. RandallCourt.us helps find publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. The official roster is maintained by the Randall County Sheriff's Office and published on their website; data is updated as new detainees are registered. In addition to online searches, information can be obtained by phone, visiting the detention center in person, or submitting a public records request. The roster ensures transparency in law enforcement operations and allows citizens to track the status of a specific individual in custody.

Search Current Inmates in Randall Jail

To find a person currently held in the county detention center, use one of the methods below.

Online Search

  1. Open the Jail Roster page on the official sheriff's website.
  2. Browse the list of inmates — it is displayed in a table with basic data: name, booking date, gender, age, height, weight, eye and hair color.
  3. Click on the name to view details: offense description, warrant issuing agency, crime classification, and bail information.
  4. If the list is long, use the browser's search function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to quickly find a last name.

You can also use RandallCourt.us to search for publicly available court information related to a specific person.

By Phone

Call the detention center using the sheriff's office main number. You will need to provide the full legal name of the person (last name and first name) or the booking number if you know it.

In Person

Visit the detention center's reception during business hours. Approach the public information window — staff will assist in checking the custody status.

Randall County Sheriff's Office
2309 Russell Long Blvd., Suite 120Canyon, TX 79015

What is needed for the search:

  • The full legal name of the detainee (last name is mandatory)
  • Booking number — if available

Records of juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

Find Randall Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created when a detained person is officially processed into jail. During this procedure, the following data is recorded:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of processing
  • Charges presented and their classification (felony, misdemeanor)
  • Arresting agency (e.g., Sheriff's Office or Amarillo Municipal Court)
  • Bail amount and type
  • Physical description of the detainee

You can view these records directly on the Jail Roster page — each record contains a detailed card with all the mentioned information. If the person has already been released and the record has disappeared from the roster, you have the right to submit an official request for public records according to Texas Government Code § 552. To do this, send an Open Records Request by mail to the sheriff's office address.

Court materials related to criminal cases are maintained by the District Clerk. A fee of $5.00 is charged for record research.

Search the Randall Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The official roster offers two main approaches to searching.

Search by Last Name

Open the roster and use alphabetical sorting (Name A to Z or Name Z to A). Then scroll to the desired letter or press Ctrl+F and enter the last name. A few tips:

  • Enter the last name exactly as it appears in documents — even a single letter mistake can prevent finding the record.
  • If unsure of the spelling, try entering just the first few letters of the last name.
  • Double last names or hyphenated last names are sometimes recorded differently; check both options.

Search by Booking Number

If you know the booking number, use it for precise identification. This number is unique for each detention case of the same person, so it eliminates confusion with namesakes.

If the Search Yields No Results

  1. Ensure the name is entered correctly.
  2. The person may have already been released — the roster only shows those currently in custody.
  3. Registration may not yet be complete — there is a time gap between actual detention and the record appearing in the system.
  4. Call the detention center for clarification.
  5. If the person was transferred to a state facility, check the TDCJ inmate search.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Randall

The roster is updated as new detainees are processed, meaning it is close to real-time, but it is not an instantaneous process. There is usually a time interval — from a few minutes to several hours — between the delivery of a detainee to the detention center and the appearance of the record on the site, depending on staff workload.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • The roster only displays individuals who are currently in custody. After release, transfer, or posting bail, the record disappears.
  • This is not an archive. Historical data on past detentions is not available through this tool.
  • Warrant statuses and bail amounts may be displayed with a delay; the Amarillo Municipal Court separately warns that online warrant statuses are updated daily, but delays are possible.
  • Records of minors, as well as some records protected by court secrecy, are not published.

To check a person's criminal history at the state level, use the Texas DPS criminal history search. If you need access to county court records, contact the County Clerk's public records portal or the Court Information page of the District Clerk.
